The Department of Applied
Mathematics and the Department of Philosophy at Western University invite applications for a Canada Research Chair (Tier II) in the Foundations of Physics. The Canada Research Chair
program has been established by the Government of Canada to enable Canadian
universities to foster research excellence and enhance their role as
world-class centres of research. Further information on the program is

We are looking for a future leader in the field of Foundations of Physics. Possible areas of research include, inter alia, cosmology and gravitation, quantum mechanics, quantum gravity, and quantum information. The incumbent should have strong qualifications in both physics and philosophy, with a Ph.D. in at least one field, and preferably both. The position will be a joint position between the two departments, and the incumbent will have research, teaching and service responsibilities in both Applied Mathematics and Philosophy. The rank will be either Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Associate Professor with tenure depending on qualifications and experience. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

All Canada Research Chairs are subject to review and final approval by the CRC Secretariat.
