The Department of Philosophy at the University of 
Chicago invites applications for a tenure-track position in Philosophy 
of Science. Rank: entry-level Assistant Professor. Minimum teaching 
load: four courses/year; graduate and undergraduate; usual dissertation,
 committee responsibilities. 
PhD preferred by October 1, 2013.
Required elements of the dossier are: cover letter, CV, teaching 
statement, dissertation abstract, teaching evaluations, research 
statement, at least three but no more than six letters of reference, 
syllabi, and writing sample. Optional elements are an additional writing
 sample, which may be a publication. All items EXCEPT letters of 
reference may only be submitted via the Academic Careers website 
(http://tinyurl.com/ce7vbuo).
Letters of reference must be submitted by your referee(s) using one or more of the following methods:
1) through the Academic Careers website (strongly preferred) or 2) 
through Interfolio (strongly preferred - use REQ # 01386) or 3) by mail 
to: Philosophy of Science Search Committee Chair, Department of 
Philosophy, 1115 E. 58th St., Chicago, IL 60637-1511.
Application review begins on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, and continues 
until position is filled. For full consideration, all electronically 
uploaded materials including letters, and mailed materials including 
letters, must be received by October 1, 2012, when review begins. No 
applications or dossier materials will be accepted after November 2, 
2012.

Glad to see their department is finally filling a PoS position. Their philosophy department has been drying up in that specialty with the retirement of Bill Wimsatt and the death of John Haugeland. As someone who has recently moved out of Chicago, this position has been left vacant for far too long.
